WATERVILLE ROTARY CLUB

POLICY FOR:

CHARITABLE DONATIONS

Purpose

The purpose of this Policy is to establish a process and to prepare criteria to guide the Club in responding to donation requests.

The Process

All donation requests, except for District or International requests, shall be directed to the Chair of the Community Service Avenue.  The Chair will then forward the request(s) to the chairperson of the Human Development or the Community Development Committee.

If the request is for support of something physical (i.e. a playground, ball field…) it would be reviewed by the Community Development Committee.

Requests that are more for direct support of human needs would be reviewed by the Human Development Committee.

Recommendations for support (or non support) would then be made by each Committee to the Board of Directors.

Any requests for International projects will be reviewed by the Chair and members of the International Service Committee and a recommendation presented as explained above.

Criteria for Support

In order to receive financial assistance from the Waterville Rotary Club, any and all requests must meet one or more of the following:

  • Must be from a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the people in the greater Waterville area

  • Should be a “one time” request to help start a project or program

  • Preferably would be used in conjunction with other funds to make the project happen.

  • If it is for a private or profit making organization, that it be dedicated to the ideals of Rotary – the furtherance of world peace and understanding.
